On October 22, Ambassador Ren Hongyan met with Chairman Councillor Kenwyn Phillip of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation and exchanged views on local-level cooperation. Vice Chairman Mr. Nassar Hosein and other representatives of the Corporation were also present.

Ambassador Ren noted that strengthening local-level exchanges and cooperation is an important way to deepen the friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago and promote mutual understanding between the two peoples. Located in northeastern Trinidad, Sangre Grande has a solid agricultural foundation and abundant coastal and forest resources, offering great potential for specialty agriculture and ecotourism. The Embassy stands ready to work with the Corporation to expand practical cooperation and further enrich the China–Trinidad and Tobago comprehensive cooperative partnership. Chairman Philip thanked the Embassy for donating medical supplies to the region. Highlighting the longstanding friendship between Trinidad and Tobago and China, he expressed a willingness to learn from China’s experience and strengthen cooperation in ecotourism, waste recycling, specialty agriculture and environmental protection, bringing fresh impetus to local development.
