Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago Sean S.M. Sobers

On September 25, 2025 local time, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago Sean S.M. Sobers in New York at the latter's request.

Miao Deyu said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago have maintained a good momentum of development. China has always viewed and developed its relations with Trinidad and Tobago from a strategic and long-term perspective, and stands ready to strengthen exchanges at all levels with Trinidad and Tobago, deepen the sharing of governance experience, expand exchanges and cooperation in such areas as trade, infrastructure, disaster prevention and mitigation, science and technology, and culture, jointly implement the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, and work together to build a China-LAC community with a shared future.

Sean S.M. Sobers said that Trinidad and Tobago attaches great importance to its relations with China, firmly upholds the one-China policy, and appreciates China's support and assistance for the country's economic and social development. Trinidad and Tobago is willing to enhance bilateral exchanges with China, expand practical cooperation as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and maintain close coordination and collaboration in the United Nations and other international and multilateral occasions. Trinidad and Tobago actively supports China in deepening friendly relations with the Caribbean region and conducting more mutually beneficial cooperation.
