On September 8, Ambassador Ren Hongyan met with the delegation of the Private Sector Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (PSOTT), which was led by Rudolph Hanamji, Chief Executive Officer of PSOTT. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening practical cooperation between China and Trinidad and Tobago.
Ambassador Ren stated that Trinidad and Tobago is an important partner of China in the Caribbean region. This year marks the 220th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese people in Trinidad and Tobago. The Chinese Embassy stands ready to work with PSOTT to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as economic and trade relations, industry, and culture and tourism, build platforms for communication between the private sectors of the two countries, and inject new impetus into the China-Trinidad and Tobago comprehensive friendly and cooperative relationship. Mr. Hanamji said that the private sector of Trinidad and Tobago attaches great importance to the Chinese market and has full confidence in China’s development. There is tremendous potential for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. PSOTT stands ready to promote greater people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, enhance the competitiveness of Trinidad and Tobago’s non-energy sectors, and actively contribute to the country’s economic diversification strategy.
