On August 19, the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago hosted an Open Day event themed “Chinese Art and Cultural Customs”. Ambassador Ren Hongyan attended the event alongside Dr. Chen Xiufeng, Director of the Confucius Institute in Trinidad and Tobago, Chinese language teachers, and over 20 primary and secondary school teachers and students from Tobago.
Ambassador Ren welcomed the visiting group from Tobago to the Embassy and noted that Chinese culture boasts a rich and profound history, with its calligraphy, painting, dance, music, martial arts, and cuisine celebrated worldwide. He highlighted that enthusiasm for the Chinese language and culture continues to grow across Trinidad and Tobago. Pointing out that this year marks the milestone 220th anniversary of Chinese Arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, Ambassador Ren expressed his hope that the youth of Trinidad and Tobago would be inspired to learn Chinese language, dive deeper into Chinese culture, and become envoys of the enduring friendship between our two countries. During the event, students and teachers watched a cultural video on Chinese solar terms , took part in an interactive “Chinese Numbers and Gestures” activity, and tried their hand at creating “blow-ink plum blossom” Chinese paintings, showcasing a keen interest in Chinese culture.
