On February 5, Ambassador Ren Hongyan, met with Ambassador Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and former Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations. 
Ambassador Ren spoke highly of Ambassador Francis’s important contributions to advancing the work of the United Nations during his tenure as President of the General Assembly and as Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations. He noted that China remains firmly committed to practicing true multilateralism and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, including Trinidad and Tobago, to implement the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind. Ambassador Francis recalled his visit to China during his tenure as President of the General Assembly and commended China’s important role in promoting global development and advancing international cooperation in addressing global challenges. He expressed appreciation for the strong support provided by China during his term of office as President of the UNGA, wished Ambassador Ren success in her new post, and voiced his expectation for the further development of relations between Trinidad and Tobago and China.
