On October 15, Ambassador Ren Hongyan paid a joint courtesy call on Senator the Honourable Wade Mark, President of the Senate and the Honourable Jagdeo Singh, Speaker of the House of Trinidad and Tobago. 
Ambassador Ren spoke highly of the positive outcomes achieved in exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both nations, China-Trinidad and Tobago relations have maintained a sound momentum of growth, with fruitful results in practical cooperation and a friendship that continues to deepen over time. China stands ready to work with Trinidad and Tobago to further strengthen friendly exchanges between the two legislatures and elevate the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries to new heights. Ambassador Ren also gave a briefing on the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women held in Beijing this week. The Honourable President Mark and the Honourable Speaker Singh warmly welcomed Ambassador Ren’s assumption of office, stressing that developing relations with China enjoys broad consensus in the Parliament and across all sectors of Trinidad and Tobago. They expressed readiness to further enhance inter-parliamentary exchanges and share governance experience to better serve the well-being of the two peoples. The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation in specific areas.
