On March 28, the Embassy of China in Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Community Development, the National Carnival Commission, and the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago, co-hosted the 2026 China–Trinidad and Tobago Kite Festival and the opening ceremony of the Kite Art and Design Exhibition. Mr. Yang Han, Counsellor of the Embassy, attended and delivered remarks. Also present were Mr. Damian Richardson, Director of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Community Development, Mr. Peter Kanhai, Chairman of the National Carnival Commission, Ms. Keiba Jacob Mottley, CEO of the National Carnival Commission, and over 80 guests from various sectors.

Counsellor Yang, together with distinguished guests, inaugurated the exhibition. He noted that through the joint efforts of both sides, the Kite Festival has become another flagship event in China–Trinidad and Tobago people-to-people exchanges, following the Chinese Spring Festival Temple Fair and the Dragon Boat Festival. Kites created jointly by artists and young students from both countries soared into the sky, symbolizing the profound friendship built on mutual respect and shared aspirations. China stands ready to work with Trinidad and Tobago to further deepen exchanges and mutual learning, celebrate the richness of civilizations, and help the kite of bilateral friendship and cooperation fly ever higher and farther.

Mr. Richardson, Mr. Kanhai and others congratulated the successful hosting of the Kite Festival, expressing the willingness to continue strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation with China, advance the partnership, and write a new chapter of friendship.
