On February 10, the Embassy of China in Trinidad and Tobago hosted the themed event “Embracing the Chinese New Year of the Horse.” H.E. Ambassador Ren Hongyan attended and delivered remarks. More than 70 guests participated in the celebration, including friends from various sectors of Trinidad and Tobago, representatives of international organizations, teachers and students from the Confucius Institute, and members of the Chinese community.
Ambassador Ren extended warm Spring Festival greetings to all the guests present. He reviewed the major achievements of China’s modernization drive and the progress of China–Trinidad and Tobago relations in 2025. He emphasized that 2026 marks the inaugural year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and a crucial year for the full implementation of Trinidad and Tobago’s “Revitalisation Blueprint.” The year also coincides with the 220th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese immigrants in Trinidad and Tobago. Taking these milestones as an opportunity, China stands ready to work hand in hand with Trinidad and Tobago to advance bilateral relations in the Year of the Horse—galloping forward with vitality and steady momentum.
The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Guests toured the exhibition on the zodiac culture of the Year of the Horse, experienced traditional Chinese cultural activities such as calligraphy and paper-cutting, and enjoyed vibrant performances including steelpan and Chinese dance. Many participants extended festive greetings to the Chinese people and expressed their best wishes for China–Trinidad and Tobago relations to flourish in the Lunar Year of the Horse and yield even more fruitful cooperation.
