On October 25, Ambassador Ren Hongyan attended the Fifth “China–Trinidad and Tobago Friendship Day” celebration hosted by the Chinese Embassy. Over one hundred guests—including Ambassador Dr. Paul Byam, representing the Honourable Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers, as well as friends from the local political, business, academic, media and Chinese community circles—joined the event.
Ambassador Ren noted that the friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago is deep-rooted, durable, and diversified. He highlighted the key messages of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the formulation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, expressing China’s readiness to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Trinidad and Tobago, accelerate the implementation of the “Five Programs” for building a China–Latin America and Caribbean community with a shared future, and further deepen practical cooperation across various fields to solidify the foundation of China–T&T friendship. Ambassador Ren also briefed attendees on the designation of the Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration by China’s national legislature and commended the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for its longstanding adherence to the one-China principle.
During the event, guests watched a documentary on China’s green development and enjoyed captivating performances by local artists. Friends from all walks of life enthusiastically shared their impressions of visiting China.
