On May 14, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Yang Han, attended and delivered remarks at the opening ceremony of the “Asian Nights 2” cultural events held at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. The event was also attended by the Honourable Sean Sobers, MP, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Ms. Paula Greene, Executive Director of National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), and a number of Heads of Diplomatic Missions, and over 200 local residence.

In his speech, Mr. Yang highlighted that Asia is a major cradle of human civilization, and briefly introduced the long-standing history and remarkable achievements of Chinese civilization, stressing its continued vitality and significant contributions to human development. He also underscored the enduring friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago grounded in mutual respect and cultural exchange, and noted that the bilateral relations have set an example of equality and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. Mr. Yang also took the opportunity to share the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, and reaffirm China’s readiness to work with Trinidad and Tobago to implement the consensus reached at the meeting and to further elevate the relations between China and Trinidad an Tobago, and the Latin America and Caribbeans.

The event was co-hosted by NALIS and the Embassies of China, Japan, India, and aims to showcase the richness of Asian traditional culture and contemporary development.
