On May 16, the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago co-hosted the “Night of China” Cultural Show with NALIS at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Mr. Yang Han attended the event and delivered remarks alongside Mr. Wilfred Nicholas Morris, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and the Office of Prime Minister, Ms. Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Mr. Neil Parsanlal, Outgoing Chairman of NALIS and Ms. Paula Greene, Executive Director of NALIS. Over 200 attendees, including diplomats from various countries and members of the local community, joined the event.

In his remarks, Mr. Yang highlighted the profound historical heritage of Chinese civilization and the achievements of contemporary China in innovation and development. He noted that mutual learning among civilizations is a powerful driver for human progress and global peace, and expressed hope that this event would offer the Trinidad and Tobago people a new window into understanding China and reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with Trinidad and Tobago to jointly implement the Global Civilization Initiative, enhance people-to-people connectivity, and inject lasting momentum into bilateral relations.

Parliamentary Secretary Morris and other dignitaries warmly congratulated the Chinese Embassy on the successful event, expressing their continued support for strengthening ties, enhancing cultural exchanges, and deepening practical cooperation between the two countries.

The event featured captivating performances presented by the Confucius Institute of Trinidad and Tobago and the Chinese Cultural Studies Society, which were enthusiastically received by the audience.
