Chargé d’Affaires Yang Han Attended the Opening Ceremony of China-Trinidad and Tobago Kite Festival

On April 19, Counsellor Yang Han, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago addressed the opening ceremony of the "Carnival in the Sky" China-Trinidad and Tobago Kite Festival, co-hosted by the Embassy and the National Carnival Committee of Trinidad and Tobago. Over 60 guests participated, including Ms. Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Mr. Claudelle Mc Kellar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Ms. Keiba Jacob Mottley, CEO of the National Carnival Commission, and a number of local artists.

In his speech, Chargé d’Affaires Yang highlighted that kites are a cultural treasure China has shared with the world and have become deeply embedded in Trinidad and Tobago’s multicultural heritage, vividly illustrating how civilizations flourish through exchange. He expressed China’s readiness to take the Kite Festival as a new starting point to work with Trinidad and Tobago in advancing the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), and enhance bilateral cultural exchanges to open up new opportunities for achieving shared prosperity.

Ms. Toussaint and Ms. Mottley acknowledged that the Kite Festival has built a new bridge for bilateral friendship,and emphasized their commitment to supporting and boosting cultural exchanges with China topromote the bilateral relationsto soar like a kite.

Following the ceremony, Chargé d’Affaires Yang Han and all guests flew kitesmade by artists from both countries in the Queen's Park Savannah.
