On March 10, Counsellor Yang Han, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago, attended the commemoration ceremony for the practical completion of the construction of the Port of Spain General Hospital central block, contracted by China Railway Construction Caribbean Company Limited. Nearly 200 attendees, including Prime Minister Keith Rowley, Minister Stuart Young from the Office of the Prime Minister, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, Mayor of Port of Spain Chinua Alleyne, as well as several government ministers, members of Parliament and representatives from various fields, participated in the event. 
Delivering the feature address, Prime Minister Rowley said the newly-built central block of Port of Spain General Hospital will significantly improve the medical infrastructure and public health system of Trinidad and Tobago. The contractor was praised for its contributions and seamless collaborations with local partners in overcoming challenges occurring in the progress of the project. 
During the event, Charge d'Affaires Yang congratulated the progress of the project and reiterated China’s strong commitments to working with Trinidad and Tobago to continuously enhance mutual trust and friendship and promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, bringing more benefits to the people of both countries. He also introduced the just concluded National Two Sessions, emphasizing that China has always adhered to comprehensively deepening reform and expanding high-level opening up, which will create broad opportunities for the whole world.
