On December 20, Charge d'Affaires Yang Han attended the ceremony for the inaugural shipment of Angostura’s renowned rums and bitters to China. Also in attendance were Senator the Honorable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry; Her Excellency Analisa Low, Ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Terrence Bharath, Chairman of Angostura Holdings Limited; and Mr. Charles Cheng, Founder of First Caribbean Marketing Company Limited.
Mr. Yang congratulated the successful introduction of premium products from T&T into the Chinese market, attributing this achievement to the dedicated efforts of both countries especially the continuous and successful promotion at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) since 2021. He noted that this shipment signified a pivotal advancement in enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries, expressing confidence that more products from T&T will find favor with Chinese consumers in the future. Furthermore, Mr. Yang highlighted China's commitment to fostering greater openness and high-quality development, aiming to creating new opportunities and expanding space for international collaboration. He reiterated China's willingness to partner with T&T and other nations to further the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative, expressing hope for a continued strengthening of economic ties between the two countries. In her address, Minister Gopee-Scoon commended the shipment as a strategic move by T&T companies like Angostura to bolster trade relations and enhance their global market presence. She conveyed optimism for the ongoing practical cooperation in trade and investment, which is expected to yield significant benefits for the people of both countries.
