On November 15, Charge d'Affaires Mr. Yang Han of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago met with Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry of Trinidad and Tobago. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Zhou Lichun, Counsellor of the Embassy, and Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. Mr. Yang highlighted the outcomes of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the latest updates on China's economic and social development. He emphasized that China will continue to leverage the advantages of broad market, strong resilience and vast potential of its economy to consistently inject new momentum into global economic growth through its high-quality development. Most recently, Trinidad and Tobago participated in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for the fourth consecutive year, setting a new record for exhibition space and contract value. China looks forward to collaborating closely with Trinidad and Tobago to jointly advance the high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, further unlock economic and trade potential, and elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights. Minister Gopee-Scoon expressed that Trinidad and Tobago places great importance on fostering cooperation with China. The Minister stated that Trinidad and Tobago is willing to take advantage of the important platforms such as the CIIE to continuously support local enterprises in tapping into the vast Chinese market. Furthermore, the Minister welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and establish businesses in Trinidad and Tobago and achieve mutually beneficial and win-win outcomes.
