On October 25, Charge d'Affaires Mr. Yang Han of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago attended the event in celebration of the 4th China-Trinidad and Tobago Friendship Day. Also in attendance were Ms. Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Daryl Dindial, Chief Personnel Officer of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as dozens of friends from various sectors. In his remarks, Charge d'Affaires Mr. Yang Han emphasized that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Trinidad and Tobago, highlighting the enduring partnership and friendship that has blossomed over the years. He noted the ongoing deepening of bilateral relations has yielded fruitful results through practical cooperation, fostering a renewed spirit of camaraderie between the two nations. Mr. Yang also introduced the strong resilience and positive trajectory of China's economy, affirming China's commitment to creating more opportunities for global development through its modernization efforts. He expressed China's readiness to collaborate with Trinidad and Tobago in building a community with a shared future. Permanent Secretary Ms. Reita Toussaint spoke highly of the positive progress made in the development of bilateral relations in the past 5 decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and pointed out that the two governments have cooperated in holding a series of wonderful celebration activities this year, which have pushed bilateral relations to a new height. She reaffirmed the strong friendship between the two countries and reiterated Trinidad and Tobago's commitment to enhancing its relationship with China, fostering exchanges and cooperation across various sectors for the benefit of both nations' citizens. During the event, Charge d'Affaires Mr. Yang Han and Permanent Secretary Ms. Reita Toussaint jointly presented the "Friends of the Chinese Embassy Outstanding Contribution Award" to 7 institutions, including National Academy for the Performing Arts, National Library and Information System Authority, Center for Language Learning at the University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers' Association, Trinidad and Tobago-China Amity Association, the China Society and China Railway Construction (Caribbean) Company Limited. The guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a short video showcasing the friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as wonderful performances by local artists.
