Notice on Visa Application Requirements (March 13, 2023)

Starting from March 15, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago will adjust visa application requirements as follows:



Part 1: Application Procedure

1, Fill in the visa application form online (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), print out all the pages of the application form, including the confirmation page with the confirmation number.


2, Make an appointment at https://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn and visit the consular office of the Embassy at the appointed time to submit all required documents in person and to retain fingerprints.


3, Applicants should bring all necessary supporting documents, including:

(1) Visa Application Form, AVAS Form and the confirmation page;

(2) Original passport and a copy of bio-data page, passport should be signed and with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages. If you have expired passports please bring with you;

(3) One recent color photo (within 6 months), front view, white background, in 48mm x 33mm size. The photo should be the same as the one in the application form;

(4) Original Chinese passport or original Chinese visa (for those who once held Chinese nationality and later joined a foreign nationality);

(5) A certificate of lawful stay and residence permit in Trinidad and Tobago for foreigners from third countries;

(6) Other documents required by the Embassy and cosular officers, see below.


4, The following applicants can be exempted from fingerprints collection.

(1) Applicants under the age of 14 or over 70;

(2) Diplomatic passport holders, or applicants eligible for diplomatic, official and courtesy visas;

(3) Applicants who already had their fingerprints collected within the past five years at the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago with the same passport;

(4) Applicants with all fingers mutilated or uncollectable.



Part 2: Visa categories and documents required

1, Category M

Issued to those who intend to go to China for commercial and trade activities.


Document required:

Documents on the commercial activity issued by a trade partner in China, or trade fair invitation or other invitation letters issued by relevant entity or individual.


The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name, address, contact number, official seal, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, signing date, etc. (the information must be included in the text of the invitation letter)



2, Category Q1

Issued to those who are family members of Chinese citizen or of foreigner with Chinese permanent residence and intend to go to China for family reunion, or to those who intend to go to China for the purpose of foster care. Intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days. Family members refer to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law.


Documents required:

FOR FAMILY REUNION

An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China. The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, intended date of arrival, place(s) of intended residence, intended duration of residence, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting individual: full name, address, contact number, signature of the inviting individual, signing date, etc.


Photocopy of Chinese ID of the inviting individual or foreign passport and permanent residence permit.


Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicant and the inviting individual.

FOR FOSTER CARE

Foster entrustment notarization issued by Chinese Embassies or Consulates General or Foster Care Power of Attorney notarized and authenticated in the country of residence or in China.  


Original and photocopy of the consignor's passport(s), as well as the original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) notarized and authenticated certification showing the relationship between parents or guardians and children.


A letter of consent on foster care issued by the trustee living in China who has agreed to provide foster care services and a photocopy of the ID of the trustee.  


A photocopy of the certificate indicating the permanent residence status abroad of the parent(s) when the child was born, provided that either or both parents of the child are Chinese citizens.



3, Category Q2

Issued to those who intend to visit their relatives who are Chinese citizens residing in China or foreigners with permanent residence in China. The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.


Documents required:

An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China. The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting individual: full name, address, contact number, signature, signing date, etc.


Photocopy of Chinese ID (both front side and reverse side) or foreign passport and permanent residence permit of the inviting individual.


4, Category L

Issued to those who intend to go to China as a tourist.


Document required:

Air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of hotel reservation with the applicant's name or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China and photocopy of the inviting individual's Chinese ID card. The invitation letter should contain: 

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name, address, contact number, official seal, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, signing date, etc. (the information must be included in the text of the invitation letter)


5, Category F

Issued to those who intend to go to China for exchanges, visits, study tours and other non-business activities.


Documents required:

An invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China. The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting entity or individual: full name, address, contact number, official seal, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, signing date, etc. (the information must be included in the text of the invitation letter)


6, Category S1

Issued to those who intend to go to China to visit the foreigners working or studying in China to whom they are spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18 or parents-in-law, or to those who intend to go to China for other private affairs. The intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days.


Documents required:

An invitation letter from the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or studies). The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, intended date of arrival, place and duration of intended residence, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting individual: full name, address, contact number, signature, signing date, etc.


A photocopy of the inviting individual's passport and residence permit.


Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members between applicants and inviting individual. (Immediate family members refers to spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18, parents-in-law.)


FOR PRIVATE AFFAIRS, documents identifying the nature of the private affairs should be provided as required by the consular officer.


7, Category S2

Issued to those who intend to go to China to visit the foreigners working or studying in China to whom they are spouses, parents, sons or daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law, or to those who intend to go to China for other private affairs. The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.


Documents required:

An invitation letter issued by the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for work or studies). The invitation letter should contain:

(1) Personal information of the invitee: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

(2) Information about the planned visit to China: purpose of the visit, dates of arrival and departure, place(s) to be visited, relations with the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.

(3) Information on the inviting individual: full name, address, contact number, signature, signing date, etc.


A photocopy of the inviting individual's (a foreigner who stays or lives in China for work or studies) passport and residence permit.


Photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicant and the inviting individual.


FOR PRIVATE AFFAIRS, documentation identifying the nature of the private affairs should be provided as required by the consular officer.


8, Category X1

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of more than 180 days.


Documents required:

Original and photocopy of the Admission Letter issued by a school or other entities in China.


Original and photocopy of "Visa Application for Study in China" (Form JW201 or Form JW202).


9, Category X2

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of no more than 180 days.


Documents required:

Original and photocopy of Admission Notice issued by a school or other entities in China.


10, Category Z

Issued to those who intend to work in China.


Documents required:

Original and photocopy of Work Permit for Foreigners, etc.


11, Category C

Issued to crew members.


Documents required:

Guarantee letter issued by a transport company.
