On April 6, Counselor Zhang Lei met with the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health of Trinidad and Tobago. The two sides had an exchange of views on T&T’s procurement of medical supplies from China for containing the COVID-19.

On behalf of the T&T government, Health Minister Deyalsingh thanked China for providing medical supplies including RT-PCR test kits to T&T. He indicated that T&T plans to expand the testing and therefore the demand for such supplies as extraction kits will rise significantly. The T&T side has ordered relevant supplies from Chinese manufacturers. It was hoped that the Chinese Embassy could provide assistance in order for the supplies to reach T&T as soon as possible.

Counsellor Zhang Lei, on behalf of the Chinese government, thanked T&T for its support and in-kind assistance when COVID-19 surfaced in China. China is ready to reciprocate with what it can do in return of T&T’s friendship. The Chinese Embassy will urge Chinese manufacturers to strive for the timely delivery of the supplies ordered by T&T.
