Ambassador Huang Xingyuan paid a visit to the central and south part of Trinidad

Ambassador Huang Xing Yuan and Councilor Lan Heping, together with 4 other Embassy staff paid a visit to the central and south part of Trinidad on July 19th, 2013. The team visited Point Lisas Industrial Estate, had a meeting with PLIPDECO’s Chairman Mr. Ian Atherly, and paid a courtesy call to the President of NGC Mr. Indar Maharaj. They went on to the construction site of UWI’s south campus at Debe and visited the Chinese contractor CJIETCC in the afternoon.

   
The Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation is the largest industrial estate of its kind in the Caribbean region and also one of Trinidad and Tobago’s main cargo ports. Hosting 103 tenant companies in the Industrial Estate,the port accounts for 90% of bulk and break-bulk trade of the country. PLIPDECO’s Chairman Mr. Atherly briefed about the estate and its recent plan of the port development. He welcomed Chinese companies to come and invest in the Industrial Estate and participate in the port construction. Ambassador Huang congratulated on the achievements PLIPDECO has made during its 47 years of development. He expressed willingness to share with PLIPDECO the experiences and expertise that China has gained through its own development of industrial parks and economic development zones.

During the courtesy call to Mr. Maharaj, President of NGC. H.E. Huang shared views on fostering the future cooperation in the areas of deep water offshore oil exploration, direct trade of LNG, and CNG technologies.
